  • River Song 11: Friend of the Family

Listened 7/2 – 10/2 Big Finish have been knocking it out of the park this year with their releases, and this one is no exception. Another very high quality story. Unusually this was one four hour long epic, that although confusing at first soon become clear, with a lovely resolution. Highly recommended.

  • End of Watch – Stephen King

Listened : 27/1 – 7/2 The final book in the Mr. Mercedes or Bill Hodges trilogy. I’ve enjoyed all of these books, and this was no exception. They are all very different and this was the most supernatural/scifi of the three. The audio books are my favourite way of enjoying these types of novels, and […]

  • Rivers of London: Tales from the Folly

Listened 25/1 – 28/1 An okay selection of short stories from the Rivers of London universe. Some were better/more interesting than others. Not suitable for a first read. I think I got it cheap a while ago, but this passed a few hours pleasurably enough. It whets my appetite for another real book however!

  • Rebus: Let It Bleed

Listened: 16/1 – 24/1 An excellent listen for the most part read by James MacPherson who provides a good, and consistent, range of voices for the characters. The end was in my opinion weaker than the rest of the story, but I’m hopeful that some of the repercussions of the events will be picked up […]

  • Torchwood: The Hope

Listened: 14/1 Great release, very dark story for Owen and Andy. I can’t do into many details for spoilerish reasons, but in the Torchwood range this one is a shining star. 5/5

  • Doctor Who: Connections

Listened: 13/1 – 16/1 A mixed bag in my opinion… Here Lies Drax – 3/5 – a silly story, this didn’t do a lot for me, and I didn’t really care for Drax, nor the Doctors attitude towards him. The Love Vampires – 4/5 – a better story, quite enjoyable with some weird vampire actions. […]

  • Doctor Who: A Matter of Live or Death

Read: 10/1/23 – 12/1/23 I purchased a load of Doctor Who Comics as part of a Humble Bundle last year, but so far have made little progress reading them. “A Matter of Life and Death” is an Eighth Doctor story, that keeps up the tradition of the inconsistent characterisation of this incarnation. The stories are […]

  • The War Doctor Begins: He Who Fights With Monsters

Listened: 10/1/23 – 12/1/23 5/5 Excellent box set. This was one of the best big finish stories I have listened to for ages. The Mission – 5/5The Abyss -5/5The Horror – 5/5 Jonathon Carley is excellent as the War Master, both vocally and as an actor. But for me the real star of this story […]

  • UNIT: Brave New World: Visitations

Listened: 6/1/23 – 10/1/23 Overall an enjoyable addition to the UNIT range. I hope it continues.

  • The War Master: Escape from Reality

Listened: 3/1/23 – 6/1/23 An enjoyable romp to start the year. Overall a clever and different box set. I could listen to more stories based in the crazy world of fiction.
